• I tried to ignore this issue till I had time to try and resolve it (kind of like that time I avoided the doctor). Several months later, I tried to fix it although after several hours of Googling and checking the forum, I think my title has the correct terminology/nomenclature to get some help resolving this issue.

    1. My Block Tables has the themes basic styling that appears in the block editor, but when I go to publish, it has the type of table that I would create in HTML (cells with vertical and horizontal dividers showing at like 1px). So my pages look like they are from the 2000s.
    2. The theme: Aquene
    3. CSS: I have no additional tweaks or changes to the CSS (it should be utilizing the default).
    4. I tried to disable all my plugins, except two that I could not. Disabling had no impact on either the editor view or the published view.
    5. I am like a fool, so I started to do random things like clearing the cache.
    6. The second issue is categories and does not have to be addressed immediately although I mention it in case it is related. All of my categories disappear right after I hit publish, and many of the categories that were associated with previous articles will randomly disappear. I have not noticed if there is any consistency or a pattern (like only with specific categories).

This is such a time suck, and it sucks when you login to find things tweaked or changed due to an update, then having to troubleshoot (maybe I shouldn’t have my settings on auto update?)

    Thank you in advance.

I understand you wish to alter your table’s current appearance. It looks OK in the editor but not on the front end. The front end appearance actually is your theme’s styling (from its style.css). The editor styling is possibly WP default since your theme may not have complete editor styling.

The best way to get the look you want is to identify the offending CSS rules using your browser’s element inspector tool. Copy the applicable rules to the customizer’s Additional CSS section and alter the applied styles as desired. For border rules, anywhere a width is specified, like 1px, just change it to 0.

I will try and explain it multiple ways because I messed up somehow trying to convey the issue:

    1. I did not buy a theme for only have 1 styling element. I could have figured that out via an existing forum Q&A.
    2. Out of all the CSS for my theme (Aquene), some time about 4-7? months ago, ONLY MY BLOCK TABLES (CSS) styling elements was not working. I am not having any other issue other than Categories.
    3. If you simply go look at Aquene: https://themesharbor.com/downloads/aquene-block-theme/ You will notice it looks nothing like https://oishii-desu.com/2023/04/25/japanese-bakery-and-pastry-shops/
    4. Why is the block table the only styling element in my theme not working on the Frontend? It appears correctly in the Editor View.
    5. As for doing it myself, I did look and try to copy’n’paste Aquene’s existing CSS to the customizer (it’s not a border rule), but I must not be able to target the correct CSS element: I located anything with “table” in it.

I’m sorry for your troubles, but the amount of support we can provide for commercial themes is very limited. Suggestions about CSS tweaks is about the limit. I recommend seeking help through your theme’s dedicated support channel.
