    I blog at pressedupinabook.com

After finding out that my blog loading speed is 11s, I’ve installed several plugins like Lazy Load, WP Smush.it, Quick Cache and Better Delete Revision.

I also switched the gravatar images to blank and summary instead of full posts.

My page size has decreased to 1.7MB and the load time is 8s — which is a significant improvement. I still want it to be faster, though. So the browsing experience will be a pleasant one.

    Any suggestion?

  • Decrease the size of your page. Seriously, 1.7MB for a single web page is huge!!! I start to get concerned if mine go over 300KB (including all images).

1.7MB takes a while to download even on the fastest connection, so you aren’t going to get much faster without taking that size down significantly.

What is there that’s 1.7MB worth of downloads???

Gosh, I have no idea! I’m thinking it’s the widgets. Okay, I’ll see what I can do! Thanks!

Well yes. Partly. Oh, and when I looked at yur home page it was over 2.1MB… Even bigger!

The sidebars and widgets are part of it, but the majority of the page size are the images in your posts. As an example, one that was 300×300 pixels was almost 200KB. That’s huge for an image that size. If it was done correctly it’d be 20-30KB. You should read up on image optimisation and see how that works as I’m sure that would help you a graet deal.

I think I know why the images are such big files, even though I use WP Smush.it

Most of my images are taken from the web. I guess I have a lot of cleaning up to do!

I think Instead of decreasing the size of your page , Why cant you just change your web host? I think a good web host can run 1.73 MB of page without taking much time . I think you should think about the future of your blog and bring a change . Visit inlinehostblogger and look which Web host will load your current page faster rather than decreasing the size of your page.

    Hi Nooriii,

The thing is I’m on a budget. This web host is a sponsored one. But thanks anyway, I’ll check it out!

Nooriii… You do know that trying to advertise hosting services is not allowed on here?

And to be honest, it’s not a good idea. There’s really not much difference in page loading speed between most shared hosting providers. I know because I’ve used a whole heap of them, and still use a good variety of them now.

The only reliable way to decrease loading times is to cut down the data that’s being transferred. You’ll also make it easier for your visitors. Name one person that’s on a mobile data plan (not wi-fi) that would be happy to download almost 2MB for a single web page? I know that I wouldn’t want that, and I doubt that you would either.

I think cutting down the Size Is not an alternative . i agree with the image thing , 200 KB is a huge and it wont help her in SEO too , And i am not advertising here. iPage was not a good choice one year ago but currently it can be a alternative to her problem . They have improved their service a lot and I know this because i am closely associated with them and their clients from a long time .

So… you agre that 200kb for small images is to big and should have the size reduced… but you don’t think cutting down the size is an alternative? How does that one work??? :/

And sorry, but it sounds a whole lot like you’re advertising, you’d know this because you’re “closely associated with them and their clients”. You may not be getting anything out of it (or you may be I don’t kn0w< but it’s still promoting them, which is very much frowned upon in these forums.
