• New to the new columns. New to Blocks.

All posts I see when searching are about Tables. This not about Tables. This is about the Columns functionality. (If it were a table this would be about row height.)

I have what is effectively two column and was able to adjust the width % to make the left column narrower (just a small photo) and the right larger for the text.

But there is a large gap below both the photo and the text within the column block and no way to eliminate it or reduce the space.

How can I do this? And why wasn’t this option included when they came up with is new but definitely not improved Blocks system?

    Thank you.

  • hi theres an answer for this for blocks, but I’m avoiding them like the plague.
There, I said it. Sorry wordpress team, I find it unfriendly and avoid it.

I disable the block editor and use the classic editor.

For what you need shortcodes are less of a headache.

I’ve started installing shortcodes ultimate as standard kit on my wordpress installs. Ive been building wordpress sites for over 15 years, since 2004. I am actively avoiding the block system. You can too.

I use this plugin a lot. You might find some bells and whistles in there you can use.

Shortcodes are just codes that you put in the editor and if you need to learn how to do something, learn how to use shortcodes.
