Hello. On PayPal Guest Checkout, after customers adds their card details, paypal declines the payment prompting: “Your credit card has been declined. Please try another one.”

I’ve tried different cards, and I’ve asked other people to test, nothing seems to work.

I’ve made sure all API numbers are correct, and followed all Woocommerce/Paypal Standard installation manual correctly. This documentation can be found here: https://docs.woocommerce.com/document/paypal-standard/

Not sure what else to do. I’ve spoken to PayPal and they’ve said they cannot see payment attempts go through, and they suggested I reach out to woocommerce instead.

Thanks very much for your help.

  • I’ve had this same issue before from our WooCommerce and what I did was re-input the API, Password and Live, from paypal payment settings and then save. You may want to reset the API password just to be sure too.

Hope this will help for I also had this issue not so long ago.

    Hi there,

Just to check – is your PayPal Standard configured to use live or sandbox mode?

It is configured to use live mode.

I’ve tried to reset then re-input API details as well and save, but that did not work!

    Thank you for the help.

Hi @rbadminclutch. Sorry to hear that payments are not going through on your site.

Can you turn on debug logging in WooCommerce > Settings > Payments > PayPal? Then try to complete an order using PayPal. This will generate a debug log in WooCommerce > Status > Logs. Choose the log from the dropdown and View it. Then share it with us using an online text storage tool. Be sure to remove all private information from the log before sharing it with us.
