Not sure if this is the right place to ask but here we go.

I am looking to run a multisite with buddypress using Yapixx offering video hosting as well.

I am new to aws and Yapixx. I assume we will need to scale eventually but was wondering is a General purpose small instance good enough to start and will Yapixx allow me to run MU and Buddypress?

Thanks for the help and the awesome work you guys do.

Small or even micro instance should be enough to get started. Micro is free for the first 12 months and gives you plenty of time to evaluate.

Hi Artem thanks for the reply. I just about have everything setup but when I get to Configure Connection to Cloud Storage I get an error.

Testing Connection Host: XXXX.s3-website-us-east-1.amazonaws.com: Value is missing for -n.

    Any thoughts?

    Thank you!

    Hi Ron,

You need to use s3.amazonaws.com/XXXX syntax, the XXXX.s3.amazonaws.com doesn’t work (assuming XXXX is the bucket name).

Good morning, I replaced my bucket with XXXX.

I am new to aws. When I create a bucket the address shown above is what it gives me. I must be missing something. Also the UI has changed quite a bit from https://www.slideshare.net/artemlivshits/wordpress-on-s3-stepbystep

It worked by following your example.

Is there detailed instruction on setting up a multisite?

I am use to cpanel and that file structure, trying to wrap my head around aws.

    Hi Ron,

Could you send a screenshot of the changed UI to support at oblaksoft dot com? I checked the bucket creation UI, there are some cosmetic changes (like button style and color is changed), but it works the same.

Slide #21 shows how to fill the bucket URL: take the bucket name from the list of buckets on the left in the S3 console, and type it into the bucket URL in the Yapixx configuration UI. In the example the bucket name is oblaksoft-yapixx, so the URL in the configuration UI is s3.amazonaws.com/oblaksoft-yapixx/db0 (the db0 part is an arbitrary prefix you may use in case you’d want to have multiple DBs in the same bucket).

Yeah I was just being a dummy. All figured out and installed. My main thing is I am use to cpanel. In aws I can’t seen to wrap my head around the file structure to activate multisite.

Is the wordpress file structure different in your AIM?

Can I access the wordpress file structure somewhere to edit files like I would normally using a text editor and filezilla?

    config file for multisite etc.

I am able to connect using private keys and filezilla but can’t file the file structure.

The wordpress files are located in /var/www/wordpress.

You may find it convenient to use Webmin for server administration. See this blog.

Exactly what I needed. Thank you!

Hi, when I Configure Connection to Cloud Storage, I got a error “The ‘listObjects’ operation for ‘XXX’ failed. 301 Moved Permanently.” How can I fix it? I tried many times but no luck. Thanks!

Most likely the problem is that the endpoint (hostname) that you use doesn’t match the bucket location. The s3.amazonaws.com endpoint only works for buckets in the US Standard region. Buckets in other region have different endpoints, e.g. a bucket in Europe would need to be addressed via s3-eu-west-1.amazonaws.com endpoint.

Here is the full list of endpoints for different regions.

I change bucket to US standard. Now it works. Thanks!

Hi, can I change the instance to Asia Pacific (Singapore)? We are located in China, the speed to visit US is very slow. Thanks!
