• I think that the free plugin is good, although slightly over complicated in what it does and the free options are not actually the ones that most people are looking for (share this article to the user’s social page). In order to get that (standard) functionality, you have to pay for the premium. (Although I have no issue paying for premium services, I want to try out the basic functionality first and this plugin does not offer what I need as a trial)

Free plugin offers a standard “share this site” (not share this page) and take me to your social page (which many themes already have built in)

Thanks for your feedback, however the sharing features are of course possible in the free plugin too (also “share this page”). Which specific sharing feature did you miss? Then we can point you to where to find it. Maybe you state your specific use case, i.e. which page you want to share, to clear things up.

When setting it up, the share this page option seemed to use a predefined share text, including a predefined link (so, more, share this site). The option to share the post/page, including post/page title, etc was listed as a premium option.

Our use case is that we want people to be able to share individual posts or pages to their own social wall, with the title and link back to the specific post or page on our site.

The plugin seems very useful – just not for the style of site that we run. (our userbase is predetermined by signups from an international organization, so we want to drive traffic to our site and social, but we don’t care about individual signups… and we already send our own weekly newsletter, so the “sign up for email” isn’t what we need either — the email option desired is (again, part of premium) to send this post/page via email to someone else)

Our theme (and most themes I tried) already has the icons linking to our social sites in the header and footer… so that feature (while useful) was already handled.

    Given a second look, I still can’t give it a 5 star… but I’ll bump it up to a 4.

Ok thanks for that, and the more detailed information.

Ok, so you want to share a page other than the one the users are currently on… yes that is easily possible in premium, however also in the free ones with the following trick: just give your e.g. Facebook icon the following link:

    https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=https://www.website.com

…where “https://www.facebook.com/sharer.php?u=https://www.website.com” is the website url you want to have shared.

Regarding defining exactly which picture and text gets shared, you’re right, that is a premium feature. You can still try to set a featured image, and add the required meta tags etc. on your page, then it should work as well (albeit not that reliably).
