debug bar incompatible with block editor and customize admin pages

    I have been getting many errors in my server logs

    ‘client denied by server configuration’

    and lots of 403 and 404’s for javascript include files in the browser console

    When this plugin is activated.

    I noticed this happens primarily on Block Editor and Customizer pages.

    It seems there are some major issues with Debug Bar and current versions of WordPress particularly via admin pages.

    Anyone else?

    Hi! Can you share what the javascript files are?

    In general, ‘client denied by server configuration’ errors indicate that your webhost has blocked loading of the javascript files, and it’s going to be unrelated to WordPress or a plugin.

    I use debug bar daily with the latest version of WordPress without any 403/404 requests.

    Thanks for the quick response. You’re right, in my testing the issue resolved when I deactivated Debug Bar but came back some time later.

    In my situation it’s blocking practically every .js file from plugins on the WP dashboard. The issue is intermittent. htaccess has been reset. I’ll keep digging, sorry for the confusion.

    Thanks for following up! In my instance I was running into these errors with Cloudflare bypassed. When I activated Cloudflare the issue would go away.

    Turns out my server had SYNFLOOD protection enabled to prevent a DDOS which was causing these errors. It’s not meant to be on all the time so deactivating it was the key.
