    Hi all,

I installed woocommerce yesterday just to check out the back end and test product pages. I have nothing to sell, I just wanted to look at the functionality.

Usually, my site should look like this: https://thehairchronicle.com/

However, upon deactivating the plugin only this would load: https://imgur.com/a/Ied4Ipf

So I’ve had to reactivate the plugin to ensure that it works.

Please could I get some advice about how to safely deactivate woocommerce in a way that means my site will still function?

    Thanks

    Hello @andre1990,

You should be able to deactivate and uninstall the WooCommerce plugin without any problems. Based on your screenshot it’s hard to tell what causes the issue that you faced. The screenshot only shows one blog post without a thumbnail which is technically unrelated to the WooCommerce plugin.

To further troubleshoot this issue can you provide a screenshot of the same page with the plugin activated and deactivated to see the difference?

    Hi Niels,

    Thanks for your repsonse.

That is what I tried to show.

The URL homepage now is how the website should work, the IMGUR screenshot was what happened when I deactivated Woo Commerce.

    I hope this makes sense?

    i.e.

Home page before I installed woo commerce and now with woo commerce activated: https://imgur.com/Bj88q05

The same home page when I try to deactivate woo commerce: https://imgur.com/wcfTbk0

It’s hard to tell what causes this issue as the homepage does not show any WooCommerce functionality. I suggest isolating this issue by deactivating all plugins and switching to a WordPress default plugin, such as the Twenty Twenty theme, to see if the blogs posts are visible as expected on the homepage then.

It might be a bit of trial and error for me then to isolate it. I’ll have a go.

Just a couple of questions off the back of this:

    1) https://www.thehairchronicle.com – is it possible to hide the cart logo present in the header on any page that isn’t the woo commerce shop URL?

    2) Is it possible to have woo commerce plugin activate but the shop offline if that makes sense?

is it possible to hide the cart logo present in the header on any page that isn’t the woo commerce shop URL?

Yes, but you’ll need to use some custom CSS do this, or consult with your theme developer to see if they have a way to remove it.

    Here’s a third party guide I found:

    https://secondlinethemes.com/disable-the-woocommerce-cart-icon/

In your case though, the class to hide is likely .shoping-cart-icon, and you’ll need to write the CSS such that it’s not hidden on the shop page.

Writing that code isn’t something we can help with ourselves however.

More or less. ?? I usually do two things:

    1. Add a store notice that your shop isn’t open right now.
    2. Disable all payment methods so no one can buy anything.
