Deactivating the plugin removed other images

After updating the Image Rotator Widget plugin a couple of days ago to version 0.2.7 I noticed an error on the widget so I deactivated it. Immediately half the images on my site simply disappeared!
Has anyone else had this happen. Any advice please?
