Clicking on the deactivate link in the plugins overview does not work?

No, nothing happens when I click deactivate.

If you want to keep SSL, you can als delete the plugin using ftp.

The deactivate process is only needed in case you want to revert to http.

Okay. Do you have a link for simple instructions for that? I have used wordpress now only for a few days so I really don’t understand how to do this.

Open your FTP client (like FileZilla) or file manager, navigate to wp-content/plugins/ and rename the really-simple-ssl folder to really-simple-ssl-x

    That should do it.

Just curious, what exactly was not working?

The deactivate issue is probably caused by a JavaScript error in another plugin.

@rogerlankhorst this plugin I believe, was compromized, and somehow got permissions changed to “root” in websites hosting, thus ftp or deleting via wordpress could not happen. I have several sites this happened on. Had to get server admin to ssh and find them all to remove

    Hi @qrguru,

With almost 6 million websites running Really Simple SSL I’m sure we would have had other reports about it if there was an issue.

Most likely it’s one of your other plugins or themes.

My recommendation would be to make sure that all your plugins and themes are updated and from the original developer, and that you have a secure password policy.

If you have a verifiable proof of concept we are of course always interested. In that case, please follow the responsible disclosure policy and contact us directly on support(at)really-simple-ssl.com.
