    Hi

In Settings/Privacy/Policy Guide (on my site) there is message saying the following:

Complianz GDPR Cookie Consent plugin: You deactivated this plugin on 11 January 2024 and may no longer need this policy.

The message was there yesterday too, but with yesterday’s date. I have not deactivated the plugin. Please advise.

    Hi @wbweb2019,

As far as I know, this is not a message from the Complianz plugin itself.

You likely have another plugin enabled which reports that message, so that’s also where I would look for the answer to this question. Not quite sure what it refers to.

    Kind regards, Jarno

It is definitely referring to Complianz. I have a screen shot but have no idea how to attach it here…

    Hi @wbweb2019,

I meant that this message does not seem to be reported by the Complianz plugin itself. Therefore I would check which tool on your site does report that message, to verify which actions you’d have to perform in that tool to get rid of it.

    Kind regards, Jarno

The tool is WordPress. It is is under Settings/Privacy.

How do I attach a screenshot to this message?

    Hi @wbweb2019,

You can use an image uploading service such as Snipboard and share a link here, but I already understand what your question refers to.

These are suggested texts that you can add to your Privacy Policy, reported by WordPress itself, based on the plugins that you have enabled on your website.

And if you disable a plugin, WordPress will additionally insert a note that you might not need that specific section in the Privacy Policy anymore.

Therefore it shouldn’t be a cause for concern, but just to reiterate; the notices on that page are not reported by Complianz.

    Kind regards, Jarno

Yes, I understand that the notices on that page are not reported by Complianz. However, I am concerned because I have not disabled this plugin and yet the message says it is disabled. This concerns me because I have run a cookie scanner on the site and received the following high risk warning:

You do not collect consent for cookies and trackers other than strictly necessary ones.

You do not collect consent for processing personal data.

I am concerned that the two things are related. I thought having the Complianz plugin meant that I was collecting consent…?

    Hi @wbweb2019,

I don’t think these items are related to each other, but of course, from my end I can’t tell you whether you might have de-activated the Complianz plugin at some point in time. It’s activated at the moment, though.

The issue with regards to the report of the scan tool, without being able to see the report for myself, is most-likely the result of loading Google Analytics without obtaining prior consent.

Assuming that’s the case, and as you seem to be loading Analytics from a Tag Manager container, the solution will be to only fire that Analytics tag after obtaining consent for Statistics.

You can follow the steps in this article under “(Step-by-step) Firing tags based on consent in Tag Manager” to configure the tag to only fire after Statistics consent is received:

Ah ok. Well maybe it logs instances of the plugin being disabled in the past, even if it is enabled at the time ???♀?

I will try following the steps in the article – thank you.

Can I also ask, do you offer any type of 1to1 support (paid for) to ensure the set up is correct?

    Hi @wbweb2019,

I’m afraid that we currently do not provide services such as a (paid) configuration service for the Complianz plugin.

    Kind regards, Jarno

    Hi Jarno

I have tried following these articles:

    https://complianz.io/definitive-guide-to-tag-manager-and-complianz/

    https://complianz.io/importing-tag-manager-container/

However, the tag is still firing before consent, so I must not have done it correctly. I guess it is probably a very quick fix, but I have tried to follow the articles a few times and I don’t know what I have done wrong. If I buy the Premium version of plugin is support with set up available?

    Hi @wbweb2019,

You can now set the “Firing Trigger” of the tag that should wait for consent, to one of the Complianz triggers, such as (Default) Consent Marketing.

And if that’s the only firing trigger of the tag, it will wait for “Marketing” consent before firing.

    Kind regards, Jarno
