Deactivate/Reactivate plugin – Huge Google Pagespeed increase

So I’m just wondering what would cause this? Is this even real? I’ve been trying to work on my Google Pagespeed Score. Nothing has really helped, I’ve been through a w3 total cache guide on wpbeginner, and I’ve had this plugin forever. I took a dip in some of my pages Google ranking so I’ve been working a little more diligently on site maintenance.

Over the past few hours, no result of pagespeed increase. Like the title says, deactivated this plugin and checked the score, it got worse. So I reactivated the plugin, nothing else, and checked the score. Now it’s good, at a 92. Before that, I couldn’t get above a 72.

Any advice?
