• I was editing my site and wanted to make it where no one could see it, however when I used one of my plugins it not only keeps others from seeing my website it keeps me from being able to login to deactivate it.

It just says, “Caution: Maintenance mode is active,” at the login screen.

How do I deactivate this? Please help.

  • Using an FTP client such as FileZilla or your host provided File Manager, rename that plugin folder /wp-content/plugins/plugin_folder_name to:
    /wp-content/plugins/old-plugin_folder_name.

Also look in the root install for a file named ‘.maintenance’. If present, move it to a new folder in root named “maint”.

Do I access that on my documents? I’m not to familiar with the technical side of wordpress. (using a mac, don’t know if that matters.)
