• Hi,
my last 3 weekly DB backups have been failing.

The database backup runs but seems to fail when trying to email the backup files to me. This is the error message:

Out of memory (allocated 53215232) (tried to allocate 17301215 bytes) in ../blog/wp-content/plugins/backwpup/vendor/SwiftMailer/classes/Swift/Encoder/Base64Encoder.php on line 51 [05-Apr-2015 03:02:01] ERROR: Out of memory (allocated 53215232) (tried to allocate 17301215 bytes)

I have made sure I am using TarGz to compress the files.

    Any advise?

    Thanks

  • Please go to the job settings and configure the mailing setting so that you must setupt the SMTP Server. That needs not so many memory.

    Thanks for your reply.
I have tried to set this up by adding all my SMTP mail server settings but when testing I get the error message:
Swift Mailer: Connection could not be established with host auth.smtp.1and1.co.uk [Connection timed out #110]Error while sending email!

    Help?

@daniel does your plugin include the swift mailer? or is @myriadp using a swift-based SMTP plugin like CimySwift?

@myriadp, if you have a connection timeout to your host, then either you used the wrong hostname, you used STARTTLS on a port that expected SMTPS/SSL, or your host has a firewall.

@postman SMTP: For Backup sending the Plugin Includes the Swift Mailer (https://swiftmailer.org/) SwiftMailer can send mails with a low memory usage.

Thanks for your reply – checked mail settings but still not working. Will contact my host to see if anything at their end.
