Date of birth field issue

Using WP 3.6 and BP 1.8.1
When a user does not complete all the required profile fields and clicks ‘Complete Sign Up’ a pop up appears below the year field of the date of birth profile field stating ‘Please select an item in the list’.
Doing so, this blocks showing the other warning messages for inclompeted fields by the user. They don’t show.
How can I fix this?
