    Hi Tobias,

    Looking to amend the “search” string and I’m using the datatables string extension but the changes aren’t taking effect. I checked support and I noticed the advice to include the language reference in the table shortcode.

    This does the job but I was hoping to avoid manually changing the shortcode for some 40 or so different pages. Is there an alternative I can try? Hope you can help.

    Many thanks,

    Dave

    Hi,

    thanks for your post, and sorry for the trouble.

    The reason for the auto-detection not working seems to be that the frontend of your site is using British English (en_GB) as its locale, while you have used the en_US translation file. Can you please try naming that lang-en_GB.json instead of lang-en_US.json in the TablePress Extension’s folder (where you made the text changes)?

    Note that changing this string via the Extension will affect all TablePress tables on the site. If you’d rather just change the “Search” string for this particular table, I would recommend to add this to the “Custom Commands” text field on the table’s “Edit” screen:

    "language": { "search":"Search size:" }

    (instead of using the Extension here at all).

    Regards,
    Tobias
