• Hi,

    I recently ran into some issue on my website where any changes I made to a page or post were never saved and they never showed up. It was not a caching issue or anything, it just stopped working completely.

    I tried updating WordPress to the latest version as it had been nagging me for a while thinking that might do the trick. However it seems to have gotten stuck in the database upgrade.

    Whenever I try to login to the admin panel I get the message that my database needs updating. I have let it update for almost the entire day (5+ hours) and I still keep getting this message. This again is not a cache issue. The database version as listed in the wp-includes/versions.php file is
    $wp_db_version = 31532;

    but in the database itself (accessed by phpmyadmin) the version found in the wp_options table is 27916. So the versions indeed do not match. Yet I don’t think it should take 5 hours for a database upgrade….

    What can I do? The website still works but I cannot access the admin panel.

    4 hours later and it is still not updated. I have tried pressing the ‘update’ button a couple more times in the meantime but it always loads for a while then just goes to a nearly blank page (only WP logo and a blank box in the middle) and when I refresh the same message (update required) is still there.
