• I migrated a WordPress website from a host using MySQL 8 to a host using MariaDB 10.3.32. I used the Duplicator plugin. During the Duplicator migration I was required to use a Legacy setting by the plugin due to a database incompatibility, I didn’t have error problem when I migrated my MySQL 5.7 websites. There was a warning in the Duplicator FAQs that using the Legacy setting may create a future incompatibility. The website seems to be working fine, I updated the theme and plugins and added a new post and page. I just feel uneasy about that warning.

I know very little about databases and their software. I tested the database in cPanel but I would like suggestions for other tests to run on the database and website.

I posted a similar question in the Duplicator forum but haven’t received a reassuring answer yet.

The issue is in how MySQL changed how database passwords work between 5.x and 8.x.l Now that it’s working well, it’s safe to leave it alone.

Thank you Steve, that’s good to know.

I think the Duplicator forum moderator implied I might have collation issues. Some of my databases do seem to have a couple of different collation types. I need to learn about databases and collation.
