• This is a second WP installation in another directory
I’ve worked with WP before but this is strange

I want to change the database prefix so I ran phpMYAdmin from cPanel
    NO databases are listed

Both databases are there in cPanel (when you look at mySQL databases and users)

Have contacted support at my host provider and they can log in and see the databases

I tried using IE instead of Chrome, but still can’t see them

I don’t want to work on my website further because it seems something is wrong

Has anyone heard of this problem before? I tried deleting and re-installing WP again, but the result is the same.

  • Firstly you say “change the database prefix”, I doubt that this is possible, I suggest that you really mean “to change the table prefix” ?

OR are you really wanting to change the database name ? The rule with cPanel is that the database name (and database user name) have the cPanel login name as a prefix, same as the name of the “home” directory, this simple scheme guarantees uniqueness.

Could it be that confusion about the database name prefix is the cause of this problem ?

Do you need to recreate your databases, create new users+passwords, reload the databases from the oldsite, and adjust the wp-config.php files ?

Sorry, yes, I meant table prefix.

I just want to access the databases in phpMyAdmin.

I’ve done what you’ve described on other WP installations, but I am having trouble with one – accessing databases (any of mine) in phpMyAdmin. They can be set up, etc from cpanel using mySQL databases, but not accessible from phpMyAdmin. Very specific issue.

Host provider taking forever to respond.
Thanks for your help in clarifying.
