database error after updating to 3.5.2

I updated my wp installation yesterday, from 3.5.1 to 3.5.2

After the update, everything seemed normal, but when i logged out and back in, i got the “error establishing database connection”

I have been using wp for about 3 years, and never had a problem.
I am in no way technically savvy about databases etc, but I have managed to get everything running on my own throughout that time.

The odd thing is this: The error message is intermittent, sometimes I can connect and log in with no problem, when i DO get the error, refreshing the page seems to fix it. (sometimes takes multiple refreshes)
And another thing, I seem to be the only one who is getting this error when I connect to the website.

Can someone help me understand what to do? thanks!
