I haven’t really messed with WP in quite awhile, but decided I was going to change the style and WP won’t let me update my options. I get the error message above. I using WP 1.2 I think. Any ideas?

No, I can’t upgrade! ?? It took me forever to figure out 1.2 and I still haven’t gotten it figured out.

When I hit the update options button it brings me to another area, like permalinks or something. So I clicked on one of those other links and this message came up. You have any idea?

Without knowing what other code may be going on I don’t know.

The reason you will get advice to upgrade is not just because 1.5.2 has themes that you may like, but because there is code out there that stupid script kiddies could use to damage your blog. 1.5.2 is protected against that. It is work that is worth doing.
    There is a guide here:
    https://www.tamba2.org.uk/wordpress/upgrade/
which may help ? And ask anything you need ? This might also remove the db problem you have.

Oh gosh! Okay, I’ll give it a shot. Could I upload the new version to another sub-domain and keep this one up temporarily so I don’t lose any entries between? I don’t if I could upgrade or not without losing my posts. Most of them aren’t worth keeping except the ones about my boys.

Upgrading shouldn’t take too long at all.
The most important thing is to get a full copy of the database before you start – that has everything that matters inside it.

    Do you have cpanel ?

Yes, I’m with dreamhost. They have a one-click install and that’s how I installed it originally. And, I planned on doing it that way again, but I start reading how to upgrade and my eyes glaze over, and I feel like I’m not comprehending anything. I have dinner to get to and then I’m going to give it a shot.

P.S Thank you for helping. ??

If the glaze remains, I’ll upgrade you if you’d like.
I’d need access to everything to do that, but I promise not to break anything ??
