database crashed – need assistance

My ISP just attempted to install an older version of the database but that appears to have failed as well. ??

Did you run the update with the link I sent?

From the looks of it, you updated your WordPress, which requires an update of your database.

Yeah, I went from 3.2 to 3.51 earlier in the week.

Not sure what you mean by an update of the database. I did an attempt to fix a couple of days ago, but there was no problem. I’d asked the ISP to drop in an entire backup of the blog directory, but it appears that what he actually did was drop in a copy of the older database, that was clearly corrupted. The system was up. Its now completely down, and I don’t know how to access it other than from ftp.

Oops. I should be more specific. I did not mean to say “but there was no problem” above. My backup system attempted to repair the working database and didn’t appear to return any major warnings. However, when I attempted to roll back to the previous version, it said that it couldn’t do so. I was wanting to roll back to the wp 3.2 version of the database, because I’d also changed to a new template, that had a serious problem as it was no longer letting me properly see any of my pages, setting them with a damaged “continue reading” excerpt option.

Okay, He just dropped an entire copy of the the blog directory back into the folder and the system is working again. End of ultra crisis.

I now have access to the blog again.

Its now back at 3.2 and just a bad copy of the database, but at least a functioning system. I will make another stab, first off repairing the database with wp-dbmanager…

got some work to do…
