Just transferred to a new host. WP installed but cannot connect to db. It works Ok if I use an auto install but after importing backup from old site (also 3.3.1) WP cannot connect to the db. tried everything I can thin of. Is it either a field in the db that is messing things up or corruption? I did try another backup and got the same response.

Check your new host’s wp-config.php and make sure the database setting are correct for your new home, including table prefix.

If you restored the file backup you may have also restored the old wp-config.php file which may not be correct anymore.

I just restored the database SQL file. I tried an auto install of WP on the new server and it worked OK until I imported the SQL file from the previous server. Them WP could not communicate with the database. That makes me think there is something in the database backup which prevents WP from seeing the db. Never had this happen before.
