Database Connections / Crash

We were using Flow-Flow v2.10.15 on WordPress 4.7.5 and every day, we’d see the site slow to a crawl before finally crashing with an “Error establishing a database connection” error. Resetting apache fixed the issue for about a day each time. After reviewing the apache error logs, I came across a whole bunch of these error messages that coincided with when the site finally crashed and became unresponsive. https://www.screencast.com/t/xvCfJ0VNKSq
I disabled the plugin and the site has not slowed down or crashed since.

Is this a known issue? Will upgrading to a new version resolve this issue?
