My WP blog was working perfectly until yesterday when I typed in the address of the home page: https://www.camphilluu.com I got the IE 500 server error. I typed in the wp-admin address and received the WordPress message: Error establishing a database connection.

Supposedly, this has to be one of three things: 1)incorrect database/user/password info, 2) incorrect host name 3) database server not up and running.

As stated, the site worked perfectly before, but I checked 1) & 2). Looked good! Called host, register.com. A nice fellow spent over an hour pouring over things on his end and assured me the server was working fine, but told me, “the data base settings in your script have to be fixed.”

Does he mean 1) & 2)? If so, I can’t find anything wrong. (I couldn’t ask him, because I foolishly agreed to let him email his findings after I had been holding the phone for over an hour.)

    Help?

  • If you did absolutely nothing, then the host changed something – i.e. db ip or db name or the server is not running properly.
