Database connection error – Advanced Settings

I’m trying to clone the production site and database into it’s own separate database instead of using the production DB for the staging site. I created the DB in PHPmyAdmin entered all the credentials correctly but I get an error when I test the DB connection that says “error establishing database connection”

Wondering if anyone else has encountered it. All the crdentials and database name is correct.
