• I checked “Send Backups By Email” and clicked the “Create Database Backup” button. The message “Database Backup Completed” appears at the top of the page, but I never get mail. How can I tell if this feature is working properly? The problem could be this plugin, but it could just as easily be something on my host’s end like a restriction or something. I just don’t know how to go about debugging this issue, so I’d like some guidance. Thank you. ??

  • Ditto. I’m actually finding inconsistent results over three WP sites. One generates backups automatically and sends them via e-mail to the designated address.

A second one indicates that it has completed backups, but they are never received via e-mail (I’ve changed the address just in case that was the issue, but it makes no difference).

A third — the largest site — does not send backups via e-mail and generates the following message when backups are initiated manually:

Fatal error: Allowed memory size of 268435456 bytes exhausted (tried to allocate 35 bytes) in /[path]/public_html/wp-includes/wp-db.php on line 1242

Ditto again. Emails get sent, but without attachment. Then I tried the non-email version, to …htdocs/wp-content/plugins/better-wp-security/backups. No backup.

Mine too. I get the email, but no attachment.

Me too. I maintain 7 different sites and 5 work fine, but two doesn’t send e-mail backups.

    I even tried different e-mails….still doesn’t work.

I tested this on a second site, hosted by a completely different host, and the behavior is the same as in my first post. Clearly this issue is affecting a number of people. It would be great to get some sort of response from the BWPS developers.

Same here, it would be nice if someone from the team would at least acknowledge this problem. Even if it were to say they are aware of it and or working on it.

For me it work for a while the just stopped all together. Then when doing a manual DB backup it redirects to a blank white page.

I get the email, but no attachment. This problem occurred after upgrading to the new iThemes Security version. Annoying.

I don’t even get the email.

It’s funny because after I thought I had fixed it, 2 days later it was like I didn’t even do anything.

I’m not sure if it’s a plugin conflict or what but it’s rather annoying to say the least.

I even installed it on a new wp install with no other plugins and still does the same thing. Works for a while and the completely stops.

Me personally I think it’s to get people to purchase there paid backupbuddy which is all good to have, but why force someone to purchase something they don’t want?

Anyone had any success dealing with this problem? The plugin has been updated a number of times since this thread started and I’m having the same problem on 4.0. No email, no saved DB. I’m not up to purchasing BB as a single site as a single admin with no money coming in to cover that kind of stuff. It is extremely annoying.
