• I’m using Putty to backup my WordPress Database. In phpMyAdmin the size at the bottom says 69.2 MiB (is MiB equivalent to MB?) and when using Putty to export, the SQL file is 49.5 MB. Am I losing some data in the backup?

Any one know? I just did another database backup, in phpMyAdmin it says the size is 80.0 MiB but when I use Putty to backup the database, the size of the sql is 60 MB.

I know phpmyadmin adds comments, it may also add extra lines or whitespace. I wouldnt be concerned, Ive used both methods religiously and they work great.

Also, phpmyadmin may add ‘drop if exists’ statements that may not be present in your mysql export.

Yea I figured it could be all the comments, lines, etc in phpMyAdmin but 20 MB worth worries me. I’m sure it’s fine though, thanks for the reply Rank.
