Data-vocabulary.org schema deprecated – Google warning

    Hi I’ve received the “Data-vocabulary.org schema deprecated” – Google warning for some of my web content. I have plugged in both the Yoast SEO plugin (free version) and the Schema plug-in to solve the problem- I selected the page/post article settings in Schema but i’m still receiving the Google error message when I test my pages. Does anyone have any ideas what else I can do to fix this problem? Thanks in advance Dennie

  • Hi Dennie,

    We checked the example page and found that there is markup in the breadcrumbs that Google no longer supports. See the screenshot.

    Yoast SEO’s breadcrumbs use the schema.org format for its structured data markup and not data-vocabulary.org, so we recommend removing this code to solve the problem. Yoast SEO already outputs the breadcrumb schema data by default for all of your pages, so it’s not necessary to have this code or use the Schema plugin.

    We’re not sure what is generating the breadcrumb markup, so we recommend contacting your theme developer for more assistance.

    Hi Priscilla

    Appreciate your help – you made this very clear for me to understand. I contacted the web developer of my template and have upgraded to an updated version – which fixed the issue – so my template was the problem!
