Data Stores (bookmark/wishlist)
-
Hi! I love how lightweight and flexible Pods is – but I can’t find a good solution for a “Wishlist”/”Collection” on the logged in user side (for Buddypress style setup or like Magazine/Directory lists). This plugin is no longer supported: https://codecanyon.net/item/woocommerce-wishlist-amp-collection/19241379
and I’m wondering if Pods has something like Crocoblock: https://crocoblock.com/knowledge-base/articles/jetengine-data-stores-module-overview/
where at least they can favorite/bookmark CPTs and have it publicly OR privately viewable. But even better – I’d like to have users make their own lists/collections and have each list/collection be related to either one type of CPT or ALL CPTs – which can then be viewable privately or publicly. And then showcase an archive of all that users lists/collections. And also be able to tag/categorize (taxonomy) a list/collection.
The latter use case (lists/collections) I wonder if this can be done with creating a CPT called List, with it’s own set of taxonomies. And add a custom field with multiple select relationship to specific CPT or all CPTs on site. BUT that would mean the user has to type to search for those, let’s say, Articles to add to that single List cpt they just created. I’d like users to be able to only manage this from the front end. So they’re on that Article, and they see a dropdown to “Add to List” or “Create new List” – and have it save without reloading.
In essence, this is what the Wishlist plugin (first link) can do – but it’s no longer supported so conflicting with I have no idea what on my site – and I’d really rather have the flexibility to do this with Pods. PS – I don’t code beyond html & css, that’s why I’m using Pods to manage & showcase CPTs. Would appreciate feedback on how to go about setting up my use-case with pods! I hope magic tags might come in handy!
