We are converting from Yoast to RankMath, and I have some questions:

    1. Why does RankMath have an import function, instead of just using the data structures already in the database?

    2. Does RankMath store the meta field data in the site’s WordPress database or somewhere else? Please note that I am not asking about the Google Analytics or other 3rd party data. I am asking specifically about the data that belongs to WordPress structures.

    Hello @marjoriesdaughter,

Thank you for contacting the support.

Unlike the Yoast SEO plugin, we store all data in pre-defined WordPress tables like the postmeta, termmeta, & usermeta tables.

    1. Currently, Yoast stores the data in both the WordPress meta tables and the custom table that they create. Even though they store values in the meta tables, the keys are different, and that is why the import function is needed.

    2. As mentioned above, Rank Math stores data in the WordPress meta tables like postmeta, termmeta, & usermeta.

To add further, you can also have a look at this page to see Rank Math’s Usage Tracking Policy: https://rankmath.com/usage-tracking/

    Hope that helps.
