Like others, i have been having problems with SiteKit since the most recent update. It was working fine before, but now I cannot see any data at all, only errors saying “Error: Looks like your site is not allowed access to Google account data and can’t display stats in the dashboard. To fix this, redo the plugin setup.” When I follow the link, I get an error stating “getting FILE verification token failed”. I’ve taken many different shots in the dark, like de-activating/re-activating, verifying on analytics.google.com etc with no joy.

Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

    Hi David,

That screenshot is super useful, it looks like the other admin (Your wife I believe you mentioned) already setup Site Kit, which most likely was the cause of the previous Search Console error. It may have also been yourself if you’ve used another Google account at the setup stage.

When I click the button “Sign in with Google”, then sign in, I’m asked to grant access to my Adsense data, and told all other access has already been granted.

This is indeed strange, the request to your AdSense account should occur during setup of the AdSense module only.

when I click to accept, I am once again re-directed to my LOCALHOST copy of this website.

This is also unusual, I wonder are there references to the staging or local site previously used remaining.

If you’re ok to perform some more troubleshooting steps you can try checking with the other administrator? They should be able to login to the admin panel and follow the steps previously mentioned.

I’ll also check your site references on the Site Kit service and report back to you here to ensure there are no issues.

    Hi James,

I am the one & only administrator – my wife has never done anything with the setup of Google on our site as that’s my job :-/

I do have two different Google logons, [email protected] and [email protected], and I’ve tried these steps with both Google sign-ons, with identical results. In all cases I am re-directed to my local copy of the website, and unable to get the Site Kit dashboard working on the real website. I have deactivated and deleted SiteKit from my local copy, and I’ve looked for any Google auth files in my local copy without success.

    Any further suggestions are appreciated…

    Hi David,

Appreciate your updates perseverance on this issue. I’ve asked the team to reset your site on the Site Kit service, do you mind trying to connect once more?

Thanks James, that appears to have worked! SiteKit is re-installed and working on my production site – we appreciate your help…

No problem at all, that’s good to hear. Interesting insights also which should prove useful should other users encounter the same problem.
