Data Encryption?

As I’m from the EU, these states are crazy about data privacy as you know. Especially Germany, France and UK.

What if someone posts his credit cart, patient data, sensible law case data, child data, etc.?

For sure, you can secure the connection with SSL. But the saved data:
– is there any data encryption function available?
– if not: is there a way to manipulate (encrypt) the submitted data before it gets saved to the database and b) vice versa … to manipulate (decrypt) it before it will be read by the plugin?
