    Hi,
I’m new to WordPress and to any coding and back office stuff. So I got lost quite early in the WordPress installation process despite all the tutorials I read…

I already sent these questions to my host, but since it took them 2 days to reply last time I asked a question, I thought maybe you guys would be more efficient ! ??

So, I want to create a WP blog for work. We already have a domain name (https://www.brotherfilms.fr). It basically directs you to a page with a link to our Facebook page. I want to keep this page until the blog is finished and ready to be launched.

    Now come problems :
    1. I created a WordPress data base on our host (Gandi.net) PHP/MyAdmin as told in both WP and Gandi tutorials. According to Gandi, I should get a folder in the ghosts file on my sftp, such as : wordpress.mydomainname.com
I don’t and I have no clue how to create it. I guess it has something to do with the data base, but I don’t understand how I get my data base (if so) to appear in the vhost file.

    2. Am I supposed to link my wordpress blog to my domain right away, or can I start with a brotherfilmsblog.wordpress.com url and then link it (which is what I would rather do).
Might sound dumb but how do I get my host to host a wordpress blog ? What’s the point of all the data base editing and sftp ? Shouldn’t I just let WordPress host it for now ? But all the tutorials are telling me about if I have a host, I should do this and that… I guess I missed something…

    3. Adding to which I have problems with Filezilla not allowing me to copy folders onto my desktop, nor delete or move any files… Yay.

Any answer that might help will be much, much appreciated !!

Update : Hmm… Seems that I managed to install WordPress, although not at the right place. Instead of creating a new blog in a new url, I used the domain name that we owned (cool, but my html page is gone…)

How do I get the url to point to my html page without messing up the WordPress install ?
The html page is at the root of my https://www.brotherfilms.fr directory.

    Thanks.

Ok, I managed to get it to work, and better than I imagined at first !
    Thanks anyway.
