Dashboard WP version update doesn't match host version

  • I ran into this issue today after contacting GoDaddy for another issue (http error uploading a PDF document to my Media Library): the version of WordPress that is showing on my WP site is 4.3. However, when I spoke to tech support about the original issue, I was notified that the WP version shown through the GoDaddy control panel is 3.5.1.

    The GoDaddy control panel provides an option to update but I’m really nervous about doing anything until I understand what’s going on here. Tech support was unable to say why there’s a disparity.

    I’m currently backing up my files in case something may happen even without attempting the update.
