Dashboard – why edit selected with the post view link?

    I tried a search on this but came up with nothing

    When a user with say Author role logs in with WP2.01, they see current comments and current posts listed on the RHS

    For comments there’s an edit link, and if selected throws up a permission deny page (which is as expected)

    But for posts there’s no such link, and when selecting the post title link, a similar edit permission deny page is displayed.
    Why is this link set as to edit, instead of view post? And why isn’t there an edit link also (as for comments)?
