    Hi,

I have been searching forums for about an hour but am giving up and begging for help.

My site displays correctly but when I log in and try to access admin I get the message, “
Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_json_encode() in /home/onlinese/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 668\.”

I have just recently updated versions and when I tried to restore an old version or back up the new version I get this within cpanel, “The following errors were found : ?Extracted file /home/onlinese/public_html/wp-content/plugins/simple-share-buttons-adder/images/simplesharebuttons.png does not have the correct file size ‘25476’ (26640 expected). Archive may be corrupted.
?There was some error while unzipping the backup files”

Following a piece of forum thread advice I went into Phpadmin and deactivated all plugins. I also changes stylesheet and template to default. That didn’t help and actually stopped my site appearing altogether so I reverted to Graphene theme.

I pretty web influent and in need of a solution explained in layman’s terms but if anyone can help I will be very grateful. Thank you.

  • Well, Matt, I helped a guy fix a hacked website on here, that took at least double the posts of this thread thus far, so–no–this is what we’re here for on the forums, &, somehow, I never tire of it. + you provide a lot of info, which is unbelievably helpful. So the posts I make aren’t trying to pull everything out detail by agonizing detail.

However–you didn’t tell me whether your Avast is free or paid. That might help.

Since both front & back doors seem not to be opening much today, I’m gonna see if I can find a way to sneak in thru a window & not get myself arrested lol.

5quidhost did send you an email regarding accessing your ftp. Do you have that? Are you using the settings there?

    Ah yes sorry Jackie.

    Avast is a free version.

    Ha ha, don’t get arrested!

5quidhost just responded with this, “Hello,

I’m afraid not – it suggests an compatibility with a plugin or theme somewhere along the line, so you may find it worthwhile to move any themes you’re using out of wp-content/themes so that WP will
    fallback to its built-in ones.

Please connect to port 21 and use explicit TLS, though please note that this is likely to break firewall connection-tracking and may break uploads after you’re connected a while.”

Anyway, I’ve just made things worse. I went into C-panel and took my theme out and now my website doesn’t even show up to people trying to view it.

I’m not sure whichs ettings I should have on their intial email to me. All it seems to say in a section about FTP is,
    “###### FTP ######

You may use this IP – 5.102.184.19 – to upload your files via FTP until your
domain nameserver update is complete, after which you should use:

    https://ftp.onlinesessiondrum.com

To have files appear on your website, you should upload them to the ‘public_html’ directory on your account.

You should use the main username and password above to log in via FTP, and configure your FTP client to use ‘passive’ mode.”

There is other information about other parts of their service to me but I didn’t want to paste it all on a public forum.

Matt, have you tried logging into your dashboard now?

You’re very wise not to post that sensitive information! Do you know I’ve actually dealt w/folks who did? YIKES!!!!

Deleting the theme will do precisely what you said, but it might enable you to log in.

Another thing you might do is to rename your plugins folder to something like plugins1 & try logging in if deleting the theme didn’t work.

    I Jackie,

I’ve tried logging in and I’ve renamed the plugin folder and nothing is resolved.

I know I shouldn’t do this but whilst I was in the cpanel area I thought about locating the mischievous “Fatal error: Call to undefined function wp_json_encode() in /home/onlinese/public_html/wp-admin/includes/misc.php on line 670” and deleting “wp_json_encode” It appeared in two places so I deleted them and I can now get into my dashboard. However a bunch of other things don’t work not and I can’t even search for new themes, etc.

I saved the original misc.php and have now re-uploaded that so it’s back to where it was before I started meddling and I can no longer get into the dashboard. But they key definitely seems to be that little bit of code.

But anyway, I need to resist ‘trying stuff’ as I will make the situation much worse. After writing this response I will tie my hands up so they can’t press anything until someone like you that knows what they’re talking about gives me further orders!

Matt, can you try just uploading the miscellaneous.php file you extracted from the wordpress 4.1.zip file to your wp-admin/includes folder using your CPanel? We do need to get your ftp issues sorted, but perhaps this will give you a working dashboard?

Also, could you please give me your site’s address?
