Dashboard slow after Firefox 3

  • When FF 4 was released, I upgraded and noticed that my WP dashboard is considerably slower, especially on my netbook (less memory I guess, but also Windows 7). In particular when typing posts, I type about 5x faster than the text appears and when it does after some waiting, there are parts of text missing. I deinstalled FF4, installed the last version of 3 and things were back to normal. Then when FF5 was released I hoped that I would be able to use it, but the problem is the same. It feels a bit like running an old WP because there is a plugin incompatible with the new version, but I actually have FF3 installed because otherwise WP is extremely annoying. Any thoughts on how this could be? I did not notice any difference between WP 2.9, 3.0 and 3.1, the problem seems to be FF after version 3.

  • First, the latest version of WordPress IS faster! It’s a fact. Keeping your WordPress up-to-date is the key for better results. Remember : ALWAYS backup your site before updating!

    About the Firefox problems, I stopped using Firefox a while ago. Chrome seems to be the fastest solution for me. You should try it!

    Roy, try Firefox 5. Not kidding. They sped it up a bit.

    I did install 4 and 5, but both are considerably slower than 3…
    PlugPress. I tried Chrome when it was just out, but I didn’t like it as a browser. Perhaps I should just try the latest version.

    So in the end it might not be Firefox vs WP, but Mozilla vs my netbook. I was unsmart enough to upgrade Thunderbird, now I have the same problem typing emails………………………..

    Windows 7.

    But I’ve gone with the Google flow. I’m now trying to get used to Chrome (still not convinced) and Gmail. Both work better than Mozilla’s latest efforts.
