• Hi

I’ve had a website created for me using WordPress and I’m trying to create a new post. However on the Dashboard screen where I believe I should be allowed to view things like Appearance, Themes, Plugins etc, all I get is : “At a Glance”, “Activity”, “Quick Draft” and “WordPress News”.

How can I get the full range of Dashboard applications ? Has the website creator used an old version ?

    Thanks

  • Hello portoman,

there is a navigation menu on the left side of the WordPres Dashboard. Myabe it’s just collapsed. Look at these screenshots.

No my Dashboard does not contain that many items. On the left, all I have are :
    Posts
    Media
    Pages
    Comments
    Contact
    Profile
    Tools

One of the possible explanations is that the company which created the site for you gave your account just Editor or any other role except Administrator so you don’t have all the privileges. Contact them about this.

Maybe, but the log in they gave me is ……/wp-admin/ with the connected log in details, so wouldn’t that be enough ?

Any user can access the url /wp-admin/, but what they see and can do depends on the role they have been assigned. For example, go to Profile. Can you create a new user there? Or change your role? If not, you are not an admin.

Edit: If you can’t see Users in the navigation, you can’t modify users.

Okay thanks. I will contact the creator and see if they give me full access.
