• I’m having troubles with my www.remarpro.com dashboard. At first, I realized there was an issue when I tried to upload images and got a HTTP ERROR Message. I read on this forum that I should try deactivating and reactivating plugins.

So I deactivated the plugins and now many of them are not responding and don’t show up on my site (though they show as active).

I made sure my file permissions were set to at least 644 and folders to at least 755. I even tried setting them all to 777 for debugging (as was suggested on this forum.)

Nothing has worked and now this is the third day that I haven’t been able to edit or create new content on my site.

Any pointers would be greatly appreciated.

First, did you try switching your present theme to the default theme (twenty-sixteen, twenty-fifteen, etc.)?

I did. Changing the theme doesn’t really fix either problem as I still can’t upload new image files. Some plugins were working in my old theme, but updating the theme eliminates sections of the page where the plugins were located such as the sidebar.

I thought it may have been an issue with the version of WP that I’m using, but when I go to update, all it does is redirect me to a page that says “Are you sure you want to do this?” above a link that says “Please try again”. Selecting the link does nothing.

There are several features that just aren’t working when I select them on the dashboard such as trying to run a backup, updating wordpress, uploading images, ect. It seems like a lot of functionality is failing all at once.

Would it be helpful to uninstall and reinstall WP? If so, how would I go about doing that? Is there a way I can reinstall without losing content information (comments, posts, web stats, custom css themes, ect)?

Excluding any problem with your hosting service, you could try a re-install of certain files and folders.

First… are you accessing your WordPress directories (folders) through cPanel or a FTP client, such as Filezilla?

The process for either of them is:
Download a fresh copy of WordPress to your computer and unzip.

The files you will NOT replace:
    – wp-content folder
    – htaccess file
    – wp-config.php file

Next, you will first delete all the following and then upload new, one folder or file at a time:
    – wp-admin folder
    – wp-includes folder
    – index.php
    – and every file from “wp-activate.php” to “xmlrpc.php” EXCEPT wp-config.php

There will be a “wp-config-sample.php” in the fresh WordPress. Do not upload this.

This will replace your WordPress files without losing content.
