  • Try deactivating all plugins and check to see if this resolves the problem. If it does, activate the plugins one by one – checking the dashboard after each re-activation – until you find the problematic plugin(s).

deactivating the plugins did not do anything….but then i tried it in a different browser (safari instead of firefox) and it worked perfectly.

Do you know why that is?

    Not without seeing your site.

Hi, I am having the exact same issue. I just installed my site yesterday (hosting w/ Godaddy) and the blog itself seems to work fine, but the dashboard is nearly impossible to use. I’ve tried to uninstall and reinstall, and I’ve tried several different browsers and it always looks the same. Just bare bones HTML, no images, not a thing.
It’s a brand new blog, so there are no plugin issues, the only thing I did was test out a different theme or two to see if it worked – it did (on the blog), but dashboard was still messed up.

I’m seeing this as an ongoing problem for a few people (particular Firefox users, it seems), but no solutions. Any words of advice? My site is animalpa.ws

Mine is doing the same thing! Looks the exact same way as the other screenshots! What’s going on?? Never had this issue before. Looks this way in both Firefox and Chrome.

GoDaddy free hosting is the problem. The ads served by GoDaddy whack the WP admin section. Their paid hosting is fine, so the best thing to do is upgrade.

It doesn’t seem like it’s the ads, because using IE with the ads gives the formatting back, but not the click-and-drag functionality. Using chrome with adblock has the same formatting-stripped result. *confusion*

Does Safari have the full functionality with click-and-drop with the widgets? I may try that browser next…

I am having this same issue, but am on Paid GoDaddy hosing.

    Any thoughts?

I just went into my apps on godaddy’s hosting management section clikc on each wordpress installation and installed the new patch and it fixed this issue. try that!

Am also on paid Godaddy hosting and having the same issue.

    Was working fine at first..

    @ MCherney .

Hi, where do you download a patch?
    Thanks..

    — hence why I do not recommend GoDaddy as a webhost, especially for WordPress.

Is this a Godaddy specific thing then blondishnet?

Read the other day not to use Godaddy with WordPress. Unfortunately I already was set up with them before i installed.

It may or may not be. I just have had bad experiences with them. It is something you deal with on some hosts. Even if they offer WordPress as a one-click install, you are not guaranteed that the webhost will be set to be able to handle WordPress properly unless they say they meet the requirements needed.

So, it is just a personal preference. I am more apt to recommend Host Gator or another webhost over GoDaddy until GoDaddy offers better service for hostees using WordPress.

Yeah I’ll keep an eye on it and see how it goes. Will try Host Gator next time and compare how they run.

    Thanks for the info.
