Dashboard Layout Will Not Stick

  • My WordPress dashboard currently shows a 3-column layout option. However, every time I drag my dashboard boxes across the 3 columns they immediately return to one column upon a refresh. How do I get them to stay in the 3 columns?

    Have you tried: – Flushing any caching plugins you might be running, as well as server and/or browser caches. Not just your browser, but any op cache or content network cache as well such as Cloudflare. That will solve many weird JavaScript issues.
    – deactivating ALL (yes all) plugins temporarily to see if this resolves the problem (plugin functions can interfere). If this works, re-activate them individually (one-by-one) to find the problematic plugin(s).
    – resetting the plugins folder by FTP. Also remember to deactivate any plugins in the mu-plugins folder (if you have created such folder).

    Just switched themes, servers, and cleared caches. This was a problem with the old theme too and on the old server. We also recently deactivated all plugins in trying to solve another problem. Still no go.

    – If all the above steps do not resolve the issue, then try MANUALLY updating. Download a fresh copy of the WordPress .zip file to your computer, unzip it, and use that to copy up all files and folders EXCEPT the wp-config.php file and the /wp-content/ directory. You may need to delete the old wp-admin and wp-includes folders and files on your server before uploading the new ones. Please read the Manual Update directions first.
    – Backup: If you haven’t already done, always backup everything (including your database) before doing any actions, just in case something really goes wrong. You can never have enough backups!

    Ugh. Well I’m not sure it’s worth that. Ok.

    Have you tried a different browser?

    Could be a browser issue.

    I have used this same theme and set up on another blog in the same browser and it worked fine. Opened in both Firefox and Chrome. Does the same thing. ;( Reinstalled WordPress. No change.

    I doubt it is theme related being the Dashboard – the theme never really touches the dashboard.

    Given the way that the Dashboard works, it will be a js file not loading properly in admin or something similar.

    Try it on a different network (i.e. 4g on phone) and use Chrome in incognito mode to see if the problem persists. Using a different network and incognito will remove ANY possible caching issues

    Tried a different network and using Chrome incognito. Problem still exists. ;( Thanks for the idea though.
