At the top of both the Website https://www.thelance.org and in the dashboard, the words “no theme domain in index.php”… when I try to disable all plugins to update to WordPress 2.9.2, or upgrade the widgets, I am taken to a completely blank page. When I click “Manage Plugins,” the bar on the left shows, but the main part of the page, which usually lists the active and inactive plugins, is completely blank.

I have even tried to install a new plugin, but am taken to a completely blank page. And the same thing happened when I tried to install a theme.

This site is for the school newspaper and is loaded on the school servers. Unfortunately, the IT guy responsible for this is completely unresponsive and I’m left to myself to do the upgrading.

Any help would be appreciated. If you’d like to go in and tinker with it, I’m OK with that… As long as you don’t write, “F– YOU ALL” or something like that. ??

    Thank you!

  • FTP into the site and delete the wp-content/plugind/xili-language folder.

I’m in FTP, but it’s not allowing me to delete the language files. It’s saying I don’t have permission… The wording that was at the top of the page is now gone, however.

Also, index.php is in three places. Two of those files are 30b, wile the other is 397b. The larger index.php is by itself, the smaller ones are under the folders WP-Content and Plugins

    It’s saying I don’t have permission

Possibly a file ownership issue. Ask your hosting provider to reset the ownership on this files so you can delete them.

I used FTP to turn the plugins off. I updated everything and then it all started working after that.
