• When I log into my wp-admin console none of the dashboard tools show up. It just shows Dashboard, profile and collapse menu. So I can’t edit my site at all. Have changed password several times but no difference

    It sounds like you’re logging in as a regular user and not an admin. Do you have more than one login to this site?

    Hi Steve! Thank you for such a quick response. I only have one login to the site that I’m aware of. Is there a way to check if I’m logged in as admin or a user? A friend told me a while back that my site appeared on a list of hacked sites – could this be something to do with it?

    If your site has been hacked, yes, your account could have been changed to a regular user and a new admin added.

    via your hosting control panel, find the PHPMYADMIN application. Login to your site’s database and look at the wp_users table. Do you see the users you expect?

    In the SQL tab at the top, enter this SQL query:
    SELECT user_login, user_nicename, wp_usermeta.meta_value FROM wp_users, wp_usermeta WHERE wp_users.ID = wp_usermeta.user_id and wp_usermeta.meta_key = 'wp_user_level';

    You should see something like
