Recently the display of my WordPress dashboard has gone completely wrong. For a while it was half-working, if i went to an existing post on the site, and clicked to edit the post. Editing a post still appears correctly, but everything else on the dashboard looks wrong. See screenshot. i’ve deleted cookies, disabled all plugins, all the usual stuff, but it hasn’t fixed the problem. This problem is identical on other browsers and also on phone and tablet. Please help, this is driving me crazy!

Update: i was able to get the correct appearance by disconnecting from my wifi, clearing cookies, and connecting via my iphone hotspot (4G). What does this suggest?

But NOW it’s gone completely. i was reactivating the plugins, and reinstalled one i’d deleted (Interactive Geo Maps), and it seemed to work, but now i can’t access the dashboard at ALL. After a login attempt i’m getting this:

    This page isn’t working

5against4.com redirected you too many times.

    ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS

Please help, i’ve no idea what to do! Clearing the cookies doesn’t help. And i’ve deleted the plugin from the FTP server, so it’s gone.

UPDATE: i was still logged in in another browser (Edge), so the bar appears at the top of the screen on my site. But selecting anything from New, brings up a Page not found screen. Selecting the Dashboard from the bar brings up the same redirect error. Please can anyone help, i have no idea how to fix this…

You’ve tried with no plugins, I saw that in your OP. At that time did you also try switching to one of the default themes? Themes can be a source of trouble just as plugins could be.

Too many redirects could be caused by .htaccess directives that are not applied correctly. Try renaming your .htaccess file as a test. Your “pretty” permalinks will no longer work, post links will be the ?p=1234 style, but if there were any improper redirects from .htaccess, they will be gone as well. If you still get too many redirects, we’ll know it’s not due to .htaccess and you can restore the proper name.

Make sure your home and site URL settings are correct. The wrong ones can cause redirect issues.

The screen shot in your OP indicates your server was not responding properly with all supporting files like the .css and .js files. There could be server issues external to WP. For example, improper file permissions or improper security configuration. Your host will likely need to help you with server issues outside of WP.

Your WP installation may have become corrupted. You may need to perform a manual update, even if it’s to the same version. The point is to freshen all the files from a fresh download. The Reinstall version 6.3.1 button on the updates page is less than reliable for this. Please do it manually.

Thanks @bcworkz, the problem seems to have been a slightly corrupted theme, perhaps in part caused by a plugin. Having reinstalled the theme everything seems to be working again. For now, anyway. i appreciate your response – nice that someone took the time to try and help.
