• So a couple weeks ago, one of my sites was hacked prior to upgarding to the latest version of WP. I’m not exactly sure whether the resulting hack was related but my computer was shutting down every time I restarted for a while. I have since had the machine fixed and the virus eradicated (or so I believe)

Since then, regardless of the machine I am on, when I log in to that wordpress site, my dashboard is all screwed up and I am unable to post images which are vital to that particular site.

The actual site still appears fine, but I can’t update the site until I can get my dashboard issues resolved.

Has anyone experienced anything like this? I am out of ideas and not nearly tech savvy enough to figure this out on my own.

  • Download a copy of whatever version you are running from here:

Manually replace all files except for your config file, and your wp-content folder

See if that fixes your problem.

Thanks for the response, quick follow-up questions:

Will this erase all of my current theme changes and content or will that remain intact?

When you say manually replace these files, do you mean by using an FTP client? If not, please elaborate.

Yes using FTP. As long as you DO NOT overwrite your wp-content folder all of your themes and uploads will stay in tact. So just don’t upload the wp-content folder included with the copy you download.
