Dash board not downloading completely

I am using the older version of wp, I was told by my builder to NEVER UP DATE TO 2.9.2.
All of a sudden my Dashboard is only partial loaded, How can I fix this without upgrading.

That needs some explaining from your builder. Frankly, that’s a silly thing for him to say.

What version are you using? You can see the version by looking at your wp-includes/version.php file with a text editor.

Also a link to your blog would help take the mystery out of your request.

I am using 2.8, also my site itself is ok but I can not do anything in the Dashboard mode.

If your developer told you never to update, it’s likely that s/he provided you with a theme, or installed plugins, that they suspected might be incompatible with 2.9. Try deactivating all plugins, switching to the default theme, backing up your database and then upgrading your site.

How can I do that if I can’t get into the Dash board?

Also I remembered that I was adding recipes to my site but not published yet, anyhow I was copying them from a Excell program that I emailed to myself and pasted directly into my drafts without putting them into a word doc. first. oops! can this be my problem? If so how can I get into my dashboard to delete them?

When I try to log in to my dashboard, It only partial download, all along the left side. It seems that I can do some minor stuff but not sure what will happen. I got in enough so I deleted the recipes that I copied from my excell program, I thought that might be the problem but, the dashboard still not working right. I really don.t know what those error warnings mean or what to do about them.

I deactivated my pludins, backed up my data, and updated to 2.9.2.. It seemed to have worked but I noticed that my plugins never deactivated, how can I tell if they are working? and I noticed that I am missing one, but don’t know wich one, how can I find out wich plug in am I missing?
