• Hi everyone,

I have the following problem, I finished my website using the theme OceanWP and I noticed that in the browser tab the name is displayed like this:

    Page name – Tittle

“Page name” is the name I gave to every page. I only have 3 and each one is a language name (ES, EN, DE). No dashes were added
“Tittle” is the name I used under “Appearance > Customize > Site Identity”, but I did not add a dash (-) here either.

Do you know how to fix this? My end goal is to only show the Tittle without the page name or the dash.

I hope someone can help me out.

    Thanks a lot,

    Red

  • @rredbird the ‘dash’ is the default separator used in WordPress themes. Depending on your theme, it may be able to be customized, but probably the easiest way to adjust it without modifying the code would be to use the plugin Yoast and there’s an option for configuring what sort of a separator you want to use and the format for the title on each post.

See this screenshot for an example of what that configuration screen looks like:

    Hi Ben,

Thanks a lot for your answer. I will check out Yoast, but it really is a bummer not being able to change something as basic as that :(.

Hopefully I will find a solution.

    Kind regards,

Unfortunately, the site titles are generally set by a theme, so unless the theme was created to be flexible, you’d need to utilize a plugin to achieve this (or modify the theme).

    Cheers.
