I am using the Dara Theme. I like really like it. My only problem is you are not able to add widgets to the header. The only option in the customize header is to add a logo or image.

The theme ad for downloading shows social icons in the header. How can you put them there if there is no widget for the header. My site updated with the most recent update but the social icons are not there.

    Please help. Anyone???
    Thanks.

  • Hi Eknight
If I’m understanding you correctly – Have you gone into the Menu setting in Appearance> Customize> Menus> Menu Locations?
There you can select Social Menu to display in the Header.

I have tried to display them in the header that way. However, when I check the social menu box it makes my primary menu icons and places them in the header. I don’t want my menu to be icons I want social media icons in the header.

I have even tried to create a blank menu and just choose display social menu in header and that doesn’t work either.

    Any other suggestions?

@eknight74 – Could you please confirm that you have the Jetpack plugin active? It’s required for the social menu.

If that doesn’t help, could you please provide a link to your site so I can take a look? Thanks!

I had the same problem, and downloaded the theme fresh today. Jetpack is not installed as part of the download, so I installed it separately and activated the plugin. Then it asked me for a wordpress.com login. I have a www.remarpro.com account, of course, but tried to set up wordpress.com. Because Jetpack then prompts the creation of a whole new site, I have given up. This is a business site not a blog. This whole pretty looking theme is a bit of a mess and as a result I am moving to a different theme. Shame as I liked the grid layout specifically for my site.

@kbaucherel – sorry you had such a frustrating setup process.

You can create a standalone WordPress.com user account here – without having to create a WordPress.com site:

    https://wordpress.com/start/account/user

If you decide to give it another try and need further help with Jetpack, a team of support staff is ready to help here:

    https://jetpack.me/contact-support/

I have installed jetpack and now can create social menu but the icon are not appearing for the social site.
    What am I missing?

@infohealthadvisers – Looking at your site here – https://health-advisers.com/ – it looks like you may have modified the theme files, specifically the footer. Your changes are preventing certain files from getting included in the theme, including the social icons icons. Could you try downloading a fresh copy of Dara and don’t make any modifications to it. If you need to make changes to the footer, be sure to do it in a child theme and be careful not to remove anything like the wp_footer() function.

If you need further help, please start a new thread. Thanks!
