Is there a chance of not being able to access admin page anymore, if blocking own country by accident, or just by blocking country where server is located, which is different from admin country?

    Hi @dsdotca,

The plugin will block all access from countries outside of your whitelist. For example, if you were to whitelist Canada, only IP addresses from within Canada would be able to access the login page for your site.

If you find that you are unable to log in due to being in a different country which has not been whitelisted, you can remove the block by deactivating the plugin. Since you would be unable to access your WordPress dashboard, this would need to be done via your web hosting – https://www.ostraining.com/blog/wordpress/disable-a-wordpress-plugin/

We may also add an override option to the plugin in a future release, if people feel it would be useful. This would allow you to circumvent the block if you went to a secret url of your choice, allowing you to log in from outside of your whitelisted countries.

Thanks for the reply. I feel the solutions in the link provided may not work if some config file, like .htacess, is changed – just renaming the plugin, for instance, definitely won’t work in this situation.
Your last suggestion could help. It would be nice to have, at least, a systematic procedure to regain access to the login/admin page again.
Thank you for creating the plugin!

Hi @dsdotca, sorry for the delay in replying! I did not receive a notification for your last message.

The plugin does not edit any files such as htaccess or wp-config. If the plugin is renamed or removed, it will be disabled and you can log in again. We designed the plugin to work in this way specifically for this purpose.

I think we will still add an emergency override link though. I’ll see if we can add that next week.

    Phil
